Occasionally Pekes and Pals takes in a dog that proves to be difficult to place because of his age, condition or difficult temperament. Once the dog is in our care, however, he is safe for the rest of his life. We do not feel that euthanasia is an option unless a health problem becomes untreatable and the dog's quality of life deteriorates, or the dog is a danger to us or the other dogs residing here. Because long-term care can quickly deplete our already over-extended resources, Pekes and Pals now offers a canine sponsorship program. If you have room in your heart, but not your home, for one of our homeless dogs, you can sponsor him instead of adopting. Any donation you make will contribute to the care of the dog of your choice and make it possible for us to help the next one. Your name will be featured on our website adjacent to the photo of that special dog designating you as his sponsor. Sponsorship can be given as a gift in the name of a friend, as a tribute to a departed pet or just because that special dog tugs at your heartstrings. Sponsorship is a wonderful opportunity to participate in giving an old or otherwise unadoptable dog a chance at a better life.
